If you are living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia, you are not alone. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 5 million Americans are living with the disease, and that number is expected to rise to nearly 14 million by 2050.
The AAGNJ is committed to supporting those affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. We offer care and support services, advocacy initiatives, and research programs to help improve the quality of life for those affected by the disease.
Our care and support services include educational resources, support groups, and caregiver training. Our advocacy initiatives work to raise awareness about the disease and advocate for better policies and care practices. And our research programs are working to find a cure for Alzheimer’s and improve the lives of those affected by the disease.
More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia, and more than 11 million family and friends are providing care and support for them. In New Jersey alone, there are more than 190,000 people living with the Alzheimer’s and 361,000 caregivers.
On June 21, many of them will be participating in The Longest Day (TLD). The event is held annually on the longest day of the year, the summer solstice, and is a day to raise awareness and funds to help end the disease. Caretakers need all the support they can get. Participating in The Longest Day is one way to show your care and support for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. For more information on the event and how you can get involved, please visit the Alzheimer’s Association website. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
